Dermatologically tested – on human skin only!
organicum's pleasant skin-tolerance and the overall low-allergic qualities have been tested and certified by Chelab Silliker SLR, the italian laboratories of Mérieux NutriScience, in collaboration with the University of Padova. All epicutaneous patch tests were carried out on human skin – no animals were used or hurt for testing.
Corporate Supervision and Transparency
Sustainable agriculture for organicum ingredients (read: picking plants and herbs in our case) as well as equilibrium quality and purity of all organic compounds are continuously monitored by ICEA (Istituto per la Certificazione Etica ed Ambientale, Italy).
organicum's qualities and positive effects have been object of the 2008 clinical trial at Anadolu University in Eskişehir, Turkey. The Faculty of Pharmacy, Department of Cosmetology team, led by Professor Dr. Yasmin Yazan let a test group of varying genders test organicum shampoo for a period of 30 days. All volunteers rated the shampoo above-average and effective. You can download the published paper here (PDF).
We support the dual Green Dot (Der Grüne Punkt) system of recycling the packaging materials of consumer goods. organicum packages bears the Green Dot logo, indicating that the packages should be placed into the separate bag or bin of the local waste collection. Apart from this, we are working on a step-by-step reduction of non-recycled or non-organic shipping materials. Today, we either use used boxes for shipping or packages made from recycled cardboard, filled with chips/pellets made from cornstarch. Jiffy bags and air cushions are made from 100% recycled and re-usable materials (EN13427-compliant). We rather use air cushions (min. 20% rHDPE) than paper snippets. Why? Well, because of the weight. 98% of our cushions is air, adding no extra weight to the packages reducing transportation costs and carbon emissions.
As far as possible we try to ship our items by carriers who successfully participate in programs for the reduction of carbon emissions. Our German carrier, for example, has efficiently reduced 40% of his CO2 emission since 1994.
